Commonly used units and conversions for industrial casters

Two units commonly used for industrial casters:

● Units of length: one inch equals the total length of three ears of barley;

● A unit of weight: one pound is equal to 7,000 times the weight of a barley taken from the middle of the ear;

Regarding length in imperial units: After 1959, the inch in the American imperial system and the inch in the British system were standardized to 25.4 mm for scientific and commercial use, but the American system retained the “measured inch” used in slightly different measurements.

● 1 pound = 7000 grains = 454 grams
1 stone = 14 pounds = 6.35 kilograms
● 1 quart = 2 stones = 28 pounds = 12.7 kilograms
● 1 quart = 4 quarts = 112 pounds = 50.8 kilograms
1 ton = 20 quarts = 2240 pounds = 1016 kilograms
